CHAIRMAN
William
Droegemueller, MD
is the Robert A.
Ross Distinguished Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill School of Medicine. He was formerly a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at
the Arizona Health Sciences Center in Tucson and Assistant Secretary of the American Gynecological and
Obstetrical Society. A graduate of the University of Colorado in Boulder, Dr Droegemueller received
his MD from the University of Colorado Medical School in Denver.
TRUSTEES
Haywood L. Brown, MD, is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University Medical Center. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors and is Program Chair of the Scientific
Program for ACOG and CREOG. He is also President of the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine. He received his medical degree from the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in North Carolina and completed
his residency at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Sharon L. Dooley, MD, MPH is Professor and a Program
Director of Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of
Northwestern University Medical School of Chicago. She is also
head of the Section on Graduate Medical Education. She received
her medical degree from the University of Virginia School of
Medicine, Charlottesville, Virginia and her masters degree in
public health from the University of Illinois at Chicago, School
of Public Health.
David A. Grimes, MD
is Vice President of Bio-Medical
Affairs at Family Health International and Clinical Professor
in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University
of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine. Prior to
this, he was Professor and Vice Chairman of the Department of
Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University
of California, San Francisco. He also served as Chief of that
department at San Francisco General Hospital. He is one of a small
number of physicians with board certification in both obstetrics/gynecology
and preventive medicine. Early in his career, he spent nine years
at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in reproductive
epidemiology, and is now continuing his interest in fertility
control, sexually transmitted diseases, technology assessment,
and evidence-based medicine.
Ursula F. Habenicht, PhD is head of
Andrology and Hormone Therapy in the Department of Fertility Control and Hormone Therapy
Research at Schering AG. Prior to this, she served as Managing Director of the Ernst
Schering Research Foundation. Dr Habenicht received both her undergraduate training in
biology and her PhD in endocrine pharmacology from the Free University of Berlin, Germany.
Charles B. Hammond, MD is the E.C. Hamblen
Professor and Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Duke University
Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina. He has spent his entire career at Duke
University except for two years as a Clinical Associate in Endocrinology at the National
Cancer Institute. Dr Hammond was past President of both the American Society for
Reproductive Medicine (the American Fertility Society) and the American Gynecological and
Obstetrical Society. A graduate of the Citadel, he received his MD from Duke University
Medical School.
Robert B. Jaffe, MD is Fred Gellert
Professor of Reproductive Medicine and Biology; Director of the Reproductive Endocrinology
Center; and past Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive
Sciences at the University of California, San Francisco. Previously, he was a Professor in
the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Michigan. Dr Jaffe
received his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan, his master's degree
from the University of Colorado, and his medical degree from the University of Michigan
Medical School. He performed his internship and residency at the University of Colorado
Medical Center, where he was a USPHS Postdoctoral Fellow in Endocrinology and Chief
Resident. He was also a National Institutes of Health Postdoctoral Fellow in Reproductive
Endocrinology at the Hormone Laboratory of the Karolinska Sjukhuset, Stockholm, Sweden.
Paul Korner, MD, MBA is Vice President, Medical Affairs - Women's Healthcare for Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, headquartered in Wayne, New Jersey. He is Board Certified in Obstetrics/ Gynecology, and possesses several years of experience in clinical practice prior to joining the pharmaceutical industry in 1998. He earned his medical degree from Loyola University - Stritch School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois, and completed his residency at the Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology. Dr. Korner earned his MBA from The Michael J. Coles College of Business, Kennesaw State University, with concentration on healthcare administration. Dr. Korner has held positions of increased responsibility within Medical Affairs and Clinical Research & Development for Solvay Pharmaceuticals and Wyeth Research prior to joining Berlex in 2005 as Executive Director/Head of Medical Affairs - Female Healthcare. In 2007, he transitioned into his current role within the Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals organization.
Rogerio A. Lobo, MD is the Chairman of the
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in New
York, New York. He was formerly a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University
of Southern California in Los Angeles and Chief of the Division of Reproductive
Endocrinology and Infertility in Los Angeles County/University of Southern California
Medical Center. A graduate of Georgetown University in Washington, DC, Dr Lobo received
his MD from Georgetown University Medical Center.
Carolyn D. Runowicz, MD, University of Connecticut Cancer Center, Farmington, CT. Former Director, Division of Gynecologic Oncology in the Department
of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Albert Einstein College of
Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center in the Bronx, New York.
She was a former Galloway Fellow at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Hospital.
A graduate of the University of Connecticut, Dr Runowicz received
her MD from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Elizabeth A. Stewart, MD is Associate Professor of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Biology at the Harvard Medical School. She also serves as the Clinical Director of Center for Uterine Fibroids at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts and completed her residency in Ob/Gyn and her fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the Brigham and Women's Hospital/Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston. She is a former Berlex Scholar.
Jerome F. Strauss, III, MD, PhD is
Luigi Mastroianni Jr. Professor; Director, Center for Research on
Reproduction and Women’s Health and Associate Chairman,
Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Center for Research
on Reproduction and Women’s Health and Department of Obstetrics
and Gynecology at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in
Philadelphia. Dr Strauss received his undergraduate degree from
Brown University and his medical degree and PhD from the
University of Pennsylvania.
